About Us
Histon plants was established in 2011. We are a small plant nursery, based in the village of Histon, 3 miles north of Cambridge city centre.
We started our plant nursery to bring local people great quality plants at an affordable price. Garden centre and online plant prices were getting extortionate. We realised that and saw a gap in the market for affordable plants and acted upon it.
Our motto has always been “fill your garden with colour this year, for half the price of the garden centres”… and it still is.
We now specialise in just flowering and herbaceous perennial plants. Particularly ones that are pollinator friendly and contain more pollen/nectar for pollinating insects. Helping pollinators, particularly bees, is important to us and we wanted to encourage people to add pollinator friendly plants to their gardens, to try and restore lost habitat and help the pollinators.
All our plants are produced and grown on site locally and are therefore acclimatised to local conditions. Our plants are grown naturally - long and slow - using no artificial light/heat. This means they haven’t been forced in any way and this makes stronger, hardier plants that are garden ready as soon as you get them.
Our plants are strong, healthy and great value. You won’t find better and cheaper anywhere else!
We also offer various local gardening services and have many regular gardening customers in Histon/Impington and the surrounding villages.
Being both horticulturalists and gardeners for over 12 years, we have an extensive knowledge of plants and gardens and how to care for them, and can apply that knowledge/skill to your plants/gardens.
We are not just bog standard gardeners.
